Sue Mezera Obituary

Sue Ann (Adametz) Mezera, 74, departed this life on March 14, 2024, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, Lacrosse, Wisconsin with her loving husband and daughters by her side. She was born on February 14,1950 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to Edward and Bernice Adametz. She was one of four children. She made many wonderful memories with her siblings throughout her life. She was a lifelong caregiver for her youngest brother, Denny and she shared an inseparable bond with her sister Vicky, who was also her best friend. Sue’s life was anchored in her family. She shared a deep love with her husband, Jerry. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1984, in Lancaster, WI and they enjoyed 39 years of wedded bliss. Their union brought forth two daughters: Jenna and Stacey. Sue’s daughters were her pride and joy. In Sue’s later years, she relished her role as grandmother, showering love and attention to her five grandchildren: Christopher, McKenzie, Zachary, Korbin, and Mason. Sue was passionate about many things throughout her life. These things included her family, her career, her hobbies, and her faith. She enjoyed caring for others and spent much of her life working as a certified nursing assistant at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She enjoyed the connections she made with the residents she cared for and the staff she fondly knew as her work family. When she wasn’t working, she could be found sitting at her sewing machine making beautiful quilts or sewing different projects for her beloved friends and family. Her daughter, Stacey, could be found by her side, helping to cut fabric, put together sewing patterns, or helping to create quilting designs. She enjoyed baking, especially teaching her children and grandchildren how to makes traditional Norwegian foods such as lefse, rosettes, and krumkake, that she grew up making as a child. She enjoyed growing flowers and gardening with her husband. Many years were spent canning in the kitchen from their labor of love. She enjoyed her dog Max, who never left her side, and sitting outside watching all the hummingbirds who delighted in the flowers she grew in the front of her home. She was strong in her faith and through that she gained numerous lifelong friends. Of all of Sue’s passions, her family was the most near and dear to her heart. She loved her husband unconditionally. He was the love of her life. She was always proud of her daughters and all their life accomplishments. She was their biggest supporter, always encouraging them. Her grandchildren brought her a new level of love and joy. She could be found, front and center, at their dance recitals, gymnastics meets, sporting events, or school events. Because of her love and how special she was, her grandchildren will have memories to last a lifetime. She is survived by her husband Jerry Mezera of Woodman, WI, daughters Jenna (Tom) Taylor of Bloomington, WI and Stacey Mezera of Woodman, WI. Her grandchildren; Christopher, McKenzie, Zachary, Korbin, and Mason Taylor, and her siblings Vicky (Bill) Zimpel of Boscobel, WI and Dennis Adametz of Muscoda, WI, and many nieces and nephews. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice (Hagenston) Adametz, brother, Gary Adametz.
