Dale E. "Popeye" Roth

Dale E., Roth, age 95, belovedly known by many as “Popeye” passed away on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his gracious and loving caregivers. Dale was blessed lived a long and healthy life.

To those who knew him, Dale exemplified the definition of kindness, patience, commitment to family, and the value of hard work. Regardless of circumstance, he lived a life in which he would help a stranger as much as he would a friend. Dale could always be relied upon for a reassuring word and a soft chuckle to offer comfort. He was adored by the many generations of grandchildren that entered this world.

Dale was born 10/6/24 on to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roth and had 5 siblings. Throughout his life, Dale worked as a farmer in the Crawford and Grant County areas until his retirement in 1988. He was married to Ellen Rosella Homersham on December 22, 1945 in Boscobel, Wisconsin. They had two children, Charlotte and Eugene.

He enjoyed working on small engines, playing cards and board games, going to tractor pulls and spending time with his family and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his wife, Rosella, and their children Charlotte and Eugene. He is survived by his Granddaughters Lorrie (Jim) Morovits of Eastman, Wi., Peggy Johnson of Richland Center, WI., and Elaine Rhodes of
Boaz, Wi, Dennis Miller of Boscobel, Wi. And Brian (Jennifer) Miller of Prairie du Chien, Wi. He is also survived by 11 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Dale is also survived by close friends Barb (Bob) Blanchard and Carl Rhodes, as well as numerous other family members and friends. 
Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 13, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel.  Pastor Barbara Wolfe officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery.
