Lois Knoble Obituary

Lois A Knoble, age 84 of Boscobel, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family and friends after an extended illness with her heart. She was born November 8, 1934 in Waukesha. The daughter of John and Edna (Schlender) Fischer. She married Darold Knoble on August 18, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha. They have celebrated 57 years together. In 1965, they moved to Boscobel as teachers. After two years of teaching, she took off to raise her children. She worked various jobs part time making sure to be home with her children when they were done with school. In 1979 she returned to work as a full-time case manager for the State of Wisconsin Job Service Department. She was a wonderful mentor , not only to customers, but office staff as well. Her community service began to shine.

Lois served as the Boscobel Park and Rec Director for several years while still working her full time job. During her tenure as Rec. Director, she saw the arts incorporated in the rec. programs and reopened the ice skating rink. Lois retired in 1998 having no idea what retirement would be for her. She volunteered at the church working with quilters that provided quilts for third world countries and local families. She continued volunteering by assisting people with resumes and letters of recommendation so they could get a job. In 2002, she began the Boscobel Area Rescue Kennel, known as BARK to help hundreds of animals find homes and provide care through local shelters. In 2008, she joined the InHealth Community Wellness Free Clinic Board in various positions where she continued to serve until her death. Due to her health became the catalyst for having the EECP (Enhanced External Counter pulsation Therapy) service brought to Boscobel/Gunderson Area Health facility. There are so many more contributions to mention on how she touched so many lives.

Although Lois received a number of awards over the years, she avoided publicity from others by giving her recognition pins back to be awarded to the next person. In 2012, Lois was awarded the Boscobel Citizen of the year award. An award she was both humbled by and proud of. She always gave you that smile.

She is survived by her husband Darold Knoble of Boscobel. A daughter Laura (Hans) Steele of Boscobel. A grandson: Parker Steele of Boscobel. A brother Howard Fischer of Oconomowoc. Along with her “adopted” daughters and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son David Knoble, a cousin/sister Lucille Mueller, and sister in law Barbara Fischer.
