Al Mezera Obituary

Dateline-Boscobel
Al  Mezera, age 84 of Boscobel, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital, surrounded by his family.  He was born December 21, 1936 in Woodman Wisconsin, the son of Arthur and Angela (Mooney) Mezera.  He married Linda Sime on October 18, 1958 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Boscobel. 
Al graduated from Boscobel High School in 1955 and started working at Boscobel Utilities as a lineman.  He became Utility Superintendent working for 26 years.  He returned to farming raising beef and hogs.  Al was very active in the local fire department serving many years as Assistant Chief, becoming Fire Chief for 4 years before his retirement after 35 years with the department.  He also was very active in his church serving as a trustee and helping wherever needed.  While his sons were young he was also very involved with the Cub Scouts.
He is survived by his wife Linda Mezera of Boscobel. His children, Steven (Bernadine) Mezera of Boscobel, Julia (Donald) Diehls of Clam Lake, and Peter (Tara) Mezera of La Crosse. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Five sisters, Patricia Lenzendorf of Austin, Texas, Mary (David) Arneson of Onalaska, Joyce (LeRoy) Macke of Wauzeka, Barbara (Ron) Havlik of Blue River, Sandra Sanders of Oconomowoc.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Mezera.
Private Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Boscobel.  Pastor Karsten Snitker officiating.  Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Boscobel Rescue Squad, the Boscobel Fire Department or the Boscobel Hospital Foundation.   Memorial contributions may be mailed to the family in care of - Linda Mezera, 5277 County Road MS, Boscobel, WI 53805.
