Alfred Freymiller Obituary

Alfred E. "Al" Freymiller, age 93 of Boscobel, passed away on Saturday April 26, 2025 at Boscobel Care and Rehab in Boscobel.  He was born November 1, 1931 in Marion Twp. in Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of Eugene and Emma (Bender) Freymiller. He married Virginia Hahn on August 17, 1958 at Unity Church in Clarksville, Iowa.  He served in the United States Army.

Al's life journey was a rich blend of traditional family values and a farming lifestyle that not only defined a career, but embodied a true compassionate love of life, family and nature. His recollection of speaking the German and English languages as a child to proudly graduating from the 8th grade at the Andersen-Mill one room school was always spot - on.  In his life span he had seen many generations of change that ranged from horse-drawn implements to today's large specialized equipment and farming practices. He was a steward of the land that championed conservation methods by implementing contour strip crop rotation and erosion control, and a retaining pond to help manage down stream water runoff.

Al was also a strong supporter of 4-H, Farm Bureau, and the local / county youth fair organizations.  He was most proud of his registered holstein dairy cow herd that was started from a small individual herd stock.  We will always remember him for his ability to recall family, local history details and ancestry connections that were incredible and second to none. His pride was evident when discussing owning part of the land that was settled on by his original immigration ancestors JoHann David in 1867. He will be remembered for his dedication to farming, a strong work ethic, his favorite '52 Ford 8N tractor and an infectious, hearty laugh.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Virginia Freymiller of Boscobel, a son, Gene Freymiller of Boscobel, two daughters, Kristine (Joseph) Anderson of Loyal Wi., and Denise Grunow of Dodgeville, as well as 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman Freymiller, three sisters; Gladys Nelson, Ann Gebhard, and Olga Lenz, and daughter-in-law, Dian Freymiller.
