Bernadine D. "Bunny" Bartholomew, age 81, of Boscobel, passed away on Thursday April 1, 2021 at Gundersen Health in Boscobel. She was born April 17, 1939 in Lynxville, Wisconsin. The daughter of Walter and Martha (Mara) DuCharme. She married Rodney Bartholomew, on December 1, 1956 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2020.
Bunny could do anything she set her mind to. From feeding six kids with a box of macaroni and home canned veggies to sewing school and work clothes. She made everything work. Bunny loved to sew, crochet, do needlework, read and play golf. She was also a champion trap shooter and bowler. She loved swimming and snorkeling at Fish Lake where she spent many happy summers with her family. Bunny had an assortment of jobs through the years. She worked at West Bend Co., Carr Cheese and Ho-Chunk, made fishing lures and managed apartments along with her upholstery business.
Their door (and fridge) was open day or night to everyone. Always helping out when they could, many people benefitted from Bunny and Rodney’s generosity. If you needed advice, Bunny was the person to help sort things out and put them into perspective. Bunny was an independent, resourceful woman - interesting and interested. She will be missed by many friends and most of all by family.
She is survived by her children Robin Fisher of Muscoda Wi, Shane Bartholomew of McGregor IA, Lisa Brady of Beaver Dam WI, Scott Bartholomew of Juneau WI, Andrea (Wayne) Auld of Oconto WI and Donna Strook of Ripon WI. 7 siblings: Beverly (Dale) Check of Eastman, Walter (Dewey) of Bagley, Jon (Jane) of Florida, Steve of Eastman, Marcia Feilbach of Eastman, Mike of Eastman and Jenny Russell of McGregor IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stanley (Stosh), sister Yvonne Hubbard, sisters-in-law Billie DuCharme, Cara DuCharme, Trina DuCharme and a daughter-in-law Brenda Bartholomew.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Kendall Funeral Service in Boscobel is assisting the family.
