Betty Beinborn Obituary

Betty Beinborn, 91, of Boscobel, Wisconsin passed away from congestive heart failure and ascended to her heavenly home on April 4, 2025.  Betty Jane Corpian was born on January 5, 1934 in Oshkosh to Kenneth and Leona (Piepkorn) Corpian; the second of seven children. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend whose indelible memory will be forever honored and cherished.

Mom attended Boscobel schools where in high school she participated in chorus and cheerleading.  Mom married her high school sweetheart, Herman “Punk’’ Beinborn in Boscobel on September 29, 1951 and they began their married life in Loves Park, Illinois where Dad attended college and worked.  Two children (Marcia and Mike) were born there before Dad accepted a job from his brother Fred as manager of Fred’s Red Bell Market in Cuba City, Wisconsin in 1955. Four more children (Phil, Nancy, Jeff, and Tim) joined the family in Cuba City keeping Mom a busy yet loving mother and homemaker while still finding time for a woman’s soft ball league and to serve her church on the Altar Society.  In 1965 Mom returned to Boscobel when she and dad started up in business as Beinborn Pump Sales installing well pump systems throughout southwestern Wisconsin.  Dad managed field operations and Mom managed the office and home. They operated the business for almost 30 years until Dad’s retirement in 1993. After her youngest son graduated from high school, Mom joined the work force first with J & J sewing making items for the Army, then with J. C. Penney and finally with the Boscobel Hospital serving in the laundry until her retirement in 1999.

During many of those years in Boscobel they lived on Superior Street across from her childhood home where she was on hand to care for her parents in their later years.  The Superior Street house was an old needy 2 level house with a certain charm about it.  In time Mom and Dad turned that house into a lovely home that would become family central for their ever-growing family.  Holidays were main events for smiling, hugging, great food, the Packer pool, and euchre. In 2002 family central moved ½ block away to Le Grand Street where the family built for their senior years a brand new one-level house.  Betty made the new home beautiful and she cherished spending her remaining years there.

Beyond her role in the business mom lived an active life of service to her children, her parents, her church, and her community.  She was a Cub Scouts, Bluebird and Camp Fire Girls leader. She served her church as a member of the Irish Tabernacle Choir and was very active with the Altar Society. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer and she was a life-long blood donor.  Mom was a talented seamstress who sewed beautiful clothes for not just her daughters but for their Barbie dolls, too. She crocheted beautiful Afghan throws for gifts and her massive production of colorful dish rags is legendary.  Mom and Dad also made room for some fun.  They square danced, enjoyed several ship cruises, went overseas to Ireland with the choir and annually made a family outing to Hatfield which imprinted in their children many fond memories.  She golfed, bowled, enjoyed card club with good friends and relished her bleacher seat supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities.  She exercised her creative gene by taking a cake decorating class and then by making beautiful cakes for special family occasions.  Her sense of style was on display in how she decorated her home and in her own personal dress.  Mom always had some bling on. During their retirement years Mom and Dad loved their quiet weekends together in Prairie du Chien in their get-away mobile home along the Mississippi River. They enjoyed over 53 years of love and marriage.

Mom was a liberated woman who did not need a woman’s movement to gain it.  She lived her Catholic faith every day with prayer and service to others.  She was kind, caring, strong in character and a beloved sister and friend.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who thoughtfully sent out cards with a little cash inside for all birthdays and anniversaries.  She generously donated to many charities and welcomed all into her home. Mom was a competitor, too; especially playing Scrabble and cards and in recent years she enjoyed Wordle every morning.

Technology came hard for her but she had a desire to learn and her Alexa device was her friend.  She mastered a smart phone, a lap top, a tablet, and the DVR.  She played virtual Solitaire on the lap top and tablet and she became an able texter. She could record Packer, Brewer, Bucks and Badger games and her favorite soap opera The Young and the Restless when she had a day at the Tuffley Center.  Mom was a true original and someone very special who leaves a large hole in the lives of her family and all who knew her.

Mom was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, son Phil, grandson Gregg Milligan, brothers Claire and Phil and sisters Marcy, Gloria, and Dian.  She is survived by her sister, Beverly of Shorewood, sister-in-law, Orpha Beinborn, Boscobel, brother-in-law, Jack Rowland, Clinton, Iowa, daughters Marcia Webster (Mike) Belleville, Nancy Milligan (Larry) Henry, IL, son’s Michael (Nancy) Boscobel, Jeff (Gina) Elkhorn, Tim, Boscobel, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church 405 E. LeGrand Street, Boscobel.  A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Christopher Padilla officiating.

The family would like to thank St Croix Hospice Care and the Care and Rehab Center of Boscobel for their comforting care in Mom’s final weeks.  In lieu of flowers Mom requests donations be sent to the Tuffley Center in Boscobel which has been vital for her and other seniors for lunch and their social activity and joy in later years.
