Bruce Welsh Obituary

Bruce A. Welsh, 75, Blue River, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.

Bruce was born March 20,1949 in Boscobel, Wis., the son of John L. and Oriette Ottum Welsh. Bruce graduated from Blue River High School. He married Virginia Quick and they celebrated 45 years of marriage on Sept. 21, 2024. In his younger years, he worked for Royal Parlor Furniture and Scott Industries, and, then, later in life, for Walmart in Richland Center for over 20 years in the Garden Center.

Bruce was a master gardener and enjoyed photography. He enjoyed landscaping his little piece of heaven outside of Blue River. He loved his collections – always finding gems on his trips to garage sales. His daily routine included checking on his daughters and his brother Tim, as well as his lottery ticket run, and he was often very lucky.

Bruce is survived by the love of his life, wife, Virginia; daughters, Carrie (Robert) Champlin of Lyndon Station, and Jennifer Welsh of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Jacob Goeke of Reedsburg, Tallon (Ashley Zuhlke) of Baraboo, and Riley Kay (Ryan) Roberts of Reedsburg; great-grandchildren, Aspynn Goeke and Grayson “Bubba” Roberts and coming soon, Adalyn Roberts; brothers, Stephen (Corrine) of Mount Horeb and Tim (Carol) Welsh of Blue River; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Roger) White of Fennimore and Kathy (Mark) Eggebakken of West Salem; and brother-in-law, Steve Zimmerman of Patch Grove; and nieces, nephews and other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Richter; parents-in-law, William and Anna Quick; and sister-in-law, Debra Zimmerman.

At Bruce’s request, no formal services will be held. Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the charity of your choice (or, just send winning lottery tickets).
