Catherine A. Friar, age 94 of rural Woodman, passed away on Thursday July 21, 2022 at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Fennimore surrounded by her children. She was born December 13, 1927 in Patch Grove, Wisconsin. The daughter of Peter and Anna (Lobenstein) O'Connor. She married Clement Friar on September 15, 1953 at St. John's Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Clement preceded her in death on January 11, 2011.
Catherine was devoted to her faith, family and her home farm. She enjoyed gardening and baking her famous rolls (mainly for the joy of giving to others), family Sunday dinners, and raking hay until the age of 87.
She is survived by her children, Pat Friar of Waukon IA, Carol (Mike) Nevicosi of Caledonia IL, Margie (Lonnie) Clark of Boscobel, Marilyn (John) Belling of Dodgeville, Jim Friar of Wauzeka, and Joe (Tamara) Friar of Soldiers Grove; her grandchildren, Justine, Brennen, Taylor, Matthew, Eric, Braydon, Jenna, Nathan, Katie, Nicole, Amanda and Alyssa; her great-grandchildren, Emory, Graham and Olive. A sister, Margaret Myers of Bagley and a son in law, James Meseberg of Union Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Cathy Meseberg, a daughter-in-law Kari Friar, in-laws Glen Myers, Fred and Donna Antisdel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore. Father Carlos Reinoso officiating. Private family burial St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Cemetery, rural Mt. Hope. Friends may call on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 4:00-6:30 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel, with a Rosary Service at 3:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Woodman First Responders or the Boscobel Rescue Squad.
