Charles Nance Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Allen Nance, 87, passed away in Boscobel, Wisconsin after a lengthy and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Charles was born in Mayfield, KY spending his formative years in Graves County. After graduation from High School Charles enlisted in the Navy and married his high school sweetheart Doris Ann (Darnell). This began a love story that lasted over 70 years.

With his honorable discharge from the Navy, a determined work ethic, and Doris by his side Charles’ career in Power Plants spanned over 40 years. Beginning as a Steam Plant Operator he achieved the title of Start-Up Engineer, a role that would carry the small-town couple to over 24 countries, endless adventures, and countless memories.

Charles was a wonderful husband, a hero to his sons and a role model for his family.  He was described as a teacher, counselor and friend to those who were with him on his many start up projects. His love of his God, his humble and kind demeanor will leave an everlasting influence to those whose lives he touched. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement.

Charles is survived by his loving wife Doris, his sons, Keith (Annie) of Boscobel, WI and Wade (Ann) of Cayce, SC, sister Barbara (Johnny), brothers Robert (Phyllis) and Kent (Tammy), granddaughters McKaylah of Boscobel, WI and Nicole (Willie) of Lexington, SC and great-granddaughters Ava and Emma of Lexington, SC, as well as his numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents William C. and Mary Katherine Saxon, his grandparents Robert J. and Lena Nance.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date in Kentucky. Online condolences can be left at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.
