Christine Miller Obituary

Christine Lorraine Miller died from cancer at Care and Rehab in Boscobel, Wisconsin, on February 9, 2026. She was born May 27, 1966, in Boscobel, to Byron and Doris (Lindley) Miller. She was the youngest of ten children and was deeply loved by her large family.  Her father died just three months after her birth; Chris was a source of light and comfort to her family during that time of profound grief.

In the early years following her birth, Chris’s family learned that she had been born with cerebral palsy and other health challenges. Doctors cautioned that Chris might not live long. However, the devoted care she received at home — provided primarily by her mother and eldest sister, Carolyn — gave her a life rich in connection, comfort, and belonging while extending her life by decades.

Non-verbal in the traditional sense, Christine communicated in her own expressive ways, and her family always understood her emotions. She shared a beautiful smile, laughed when she was happy, and responded joyfully to music, bright colors, and the presence of those she loved. Riding the school bus to Mt. Ida School filled her youthful days with happiness.

In 2000, as her mother’s health declined, Chris moved to Care and Rehab in Boscobel. While her family had long feared the day she might have to leave home, it proved to be a blessing for her continued care. Chris thrived in the attention of the Care and Rehab staff, the staff at the adjacent hospital, and her beloved roommate, Shelly. In 2019, her mother also moved to Care and Rehab, just down the hall — their bond unbroken. Doris died in 2021, knowing that Chris would continue to receive loving and dedicated care in Boscobel and at Emplify Health in La Crosse.

Chris was predeceased by her mom and dad; her siblings, Ernest Miller and Sharon Calhoun; nephews, Lawrence Riechers and Casey Rotramel; and her brothers-in-law Larry Riechers and J.D. Lasar.  She is survived by her siblings: Carolyn Miller, Barbara Lasar, Jeanette Riechers, Ruth Rotramel (Bill), Chuck Miller (Cindy), Marla Heisz (Harry), and Yvonne Miller; her brother-in-law, Lon Calhoun.  Chris is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Aimee Lasar, Allison Meyer (Kurt), David Riechers (Caitlin), Michael Riechers (Nicole), Shayna Rios (Rhandi), Evan Miller, Heather Jensen, Sara Beth Davis (James), Courtney Heisz (Greg Ash), Kylie Eben (Dwight), Tony Calhoun, Jenny Gamble (Skye) and Mitchell Calhoun; and by her great nieces and nephews: Ellen and Sydney Meyer; Kaitlyn and Kanyon Nielson, Quinn, Reese, and Hart Rios; Roman, Thomas, Brigham, and Ella Gamble, and Claire Riechers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Christine will be laid to rest at Haskins Cemetery, beside family members who went before her. In place of flowers or memorials, the family invites you to plant a tree or flower in her memory — something living, growing, and beautiful, just like the love she inspired. Rest softly now, our sweet angel. Online condolences can be offered at www.kendallfunealservice.com.

This poem holds special meaning for Chris’s family:

God gave Chris to you to guide,

To love, to walk through life beside.

This special one, so full of charm,

To hold and keep within your arms.

God chose your family, because he knew

How safe and happy she would be with you.
