Deane Cornell Obituary

 

Deane A. Cornell, 74 of Boscobel, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at the VA Memorial Hospital in Madison.

Deane was born in Boscobel on November 2, 1946 to Toay and O’Linda Cornell.  He graduated from Boscobel High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Deane was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.   He was a huge supporter of Boscobel sports and especially loved watching his kids and grandkids play. Deane had a huge heart for cats and an open door for any that needed a home.

He was Boscobel’s Piggly Wiggly’s/IGA store manager for many years. He advocated the hiring of numerous local high school students, giving them their first job. He then worked for Swenson & Sons as their office manager until the sell of the business, where he then went to Nupak as a buyer and retired in 2013. 

Deane is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (Herpel) Cornell, they where joined in marriage on August 15, 1970; they where blessed with 3 children Todd (Kim) Cornell,Burlington, Darren (Stephanie) Cornell, Boscobel, Deanna (Hershel) Marks, Boscobel; 9 grandchildren, Sarah Cornell, James Marks, Alayna Miller, Dallas Marks, Dawson Marks, Allie Cornell , Kennedy Cornell, Hope Marks, Madison Cornell; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Burbach and Ruby Marks; 2 brothers, Royce (Charlotte) Cornell, Ranchester, Wyo., Buzz (Liane) Cornell, Boscobel. 1 sister in law; Shirley Cornell of Blue River, several Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Jerry, Roger, Muskie Cornell and sister, Jeanne Cornell.

Due to Covid-19 and restrictions a Private Memorial service will be held on Saturday December 26, 2020 , at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boscobel. Pastor Alan McCormick officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Military honors will be accorded by the Blake-Semrad American Legion Post #134 and the Gilbertson-Pitzer-Post#10393 both of Boscobel.
