Dennis E. Devine, age 80 of Ferryville and formerly of Boscobel, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday August 26, 2021 at his home in Ferryville. He was born June 11, 1941 in Madison, Wisconsin. The son of Thomas and Winifred (Stoddard) Devine. Dennis graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1959. After graduating, he worked at the Five Points Service Station and then went to business school in Madison. He was an Air Force Vietnam Veteran who served from 1963 to 1967. Dennis worked for Wick Homes in Mazomanie, Wisconsin from 1967 to 1977. He married Marsha Thingvold on September 21, 1968 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. In 1972, he purchased the family farm near Mt. Zion, Wisconsin and ran a beef and dairy farm until 2006. In 2006, Dennis and Marsha moved to the river where they built a new home in Ferryville and enjoyed retirement. He was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms and blackcaps, going to and having garage sales, and collecting Pillsbury Doughboy.
He is survived by his wife Marsha Devine of Ferryville. They were blessed with a daughter Katherine (Doug) Oswald of Wauzeka and three sons, Jeff (Tabitha) Devine of Boscobel, Steve Devine & Bonnie Michalski both of La Crosse, Loren Devine of La Crosse. Five Grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Oswald, Nicholas Oswald, Allison Oswald, Liam Devine, Ian Devine. One Great-Granddaughter, Kinsley Oswald. Three sisters, Jan Miller of Boscobel, Mary Jane (Ron)Knoble of Boscobel, Barb Devine & Jim Bausch both of Janesville. A brother John (Nancy) Devine of Blue River. A sister in law Shelby Thingvold of Boscobel. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law/mother-in-law, Harlan and Evelyn Thingvold, brothers-in-law, Erwin Thingvold and John Miller, and nephew, Jamie Miller.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday September 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philips Catholic Church, Rolling Ground. Father Thomas Huff and Monsignor Michael Gorman co-celebrating . Burial in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday September 7, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philips Catholic Church Rolling Ground.
