Dennis A. King, age 81 of Boscobel, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1944 in Winchester, IL, son of the late Alfred and Mabel (Crews) King. Following high school, Dennis enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country. He went to Great Lakes Naval Academy and served in the Vietnam War on the USS Kearsarge as a deck hand. After Vietnam, he served on the USS Zelima, AF49 as a boat tender. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Seaman (E-3).
He married Beverly Guist on November 3, 1979 at the First Congregational Church in Boscobel. Following his service in the Navy, Dennis worked as a truck driver for nearly 40 years before retiring. He was always up for a good game of cards or playing Yahtzee with family. Dennis enjoyed the times spent fishing and the feel of the open road on a long drive. Later in his life, Dennis and Beverly loved traveling the United States together, seeing many of our nation’s sights. He was a fan of the Old West and would often be found watching a Western movie or reading a book set in the Old West.

Hope; grandchildren Thomas Everson, James Everson, Ashlee Richardson, Lacy Hammell, Alexander Udelhoven, Tyler Udelhoven, Paige Richardson, Brice Richardson, and Sarah Bauer; fifteen great-grandchildren, sister Lora Ann (James) Botts of Escondido, CA, brother Dwaine King of Lake Havasu City, AZ, special cousins Mike and Joyce King, sisters-in-law Geneva Dilley and Eileen Guist, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
