Douglas Guernsey Obituary

Douglas Michael Guernsey, drifted into eternal peace on Wednesday April 22, 2026 at his home surrounded by his wife Susan, after a year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  Doug was born on September 18, 1960 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of the late James and Rachel (Conley) Guernsey.   He married Susan Sakaye on April 16, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Doug resided in Woodman and Boscobel most of his life, growing up on his uncle Greg’s farm, until he ventured out on his own trying the milking adventure for 25 years.

He was blessed to have inherited the love land, cattle, and a respectful  work ethic.  After the days of farming, he worked for the D.N.R. and then on to Al’s Apples until 2025. Throughout his life, Doug was a very simple person, had a positive attitude, believed in the truth, and had carried the faith until the end.

He was so grateful to have found a soulmate for 47 years. He and Susan had a very nurturing life of friendship and love. He graduated from Boscobel High School in 1978 and had countless stories about the buddies he hung out with and the football games he played. Doug loved life and was always on the go playing fastpitch softball, bowling leagues, and he truly enjoyed the archery and gun season for deer.

He is survived by his wife Susan Guernsey, furry friend Colt, brother Robert (Susan) Guernsey, nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service for Doug will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Boscobel Bowl & Banquet, 16971 Hwy 61, Boscobel, WI. A visitation will be held at the Bowling Alley from 10:00 am until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest in the Boscobel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Doug’s name. Online condolences can be offered at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.

Doug and Susan are so grateful for the services of Gunderson Healthcare in La Crosse, Emplify Infusion Center in Boscobel, and Upland Hills Hospice in Dodgeville.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7
