Guerdon Hynes Obituary

Dateline- Gays Mills

Navy Veteran

Guerdon L. Hynes, age 77 of Gays Mills, passed away on Monday May 15, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. He was born August 18, 1945 in Platteville, Wisconsin. The son of Thomas and Dorothy (Harwood) Hynes, and raised by foster parents Charlie and Emma Bannen from the age of 3 years old. He married Judy Vinje, on September 11, 1971 in Belleville Wisconsin. He served in the United States Navy, during Vietnam .

He went by "Gordy" sometimes, and he enjoyed mowing lawn more than most people. Spending time on his farm with his animals and wife was where he wanted to be.  He liked classic cars and Chevy trucks.  He had a great love of horses and would take trips to see speakers talk on the subject of training them. Starting conversations with strangers was easy for him and made friends across all spectrums and types of people where ever he went. He liked reading and learning about Civil War and Wild West era history and staying away from big cities. He hated waiting in lines and backing down from his ideals. The country, the flag, and the rights of people were all very important to him.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hynes of Gays Mills. His children, Shawn Hynes of Dubuque, Iowa. Paula (Jack) Smith of Steuben. Two Grandsons, Ryan Smith, Dakota Smith. One Great-Granddaughter Lenyx Smith. One brother, Thomas (Sharon) Hynes of Madison. One sister, Velma Steger of Dickyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill Hynes, Rocky Hynes. Two Sisters, Betty Buss, Marie McChesney.
