Jerry J. Staskal

Jerry J. Staskal, age 77 of Boscobel, passed away at home on Thursday, October 16, 2025 of natural causes. He was born on May 4, 1948, son of the late Robert and Mildred (Poller) Staskal and grew up in Boscobel. After graduating from Boscobel High School in 1966, Jerry went on to graduate from UW-Platteville. He married Barbara Kazda on June 20, 1970 in Boscobel, and they were blessed with fifty-three years together before she passed away in 2023. Jerry worked for a few years before joining the Boscobel Police Department in 1975. He went on to serve as the Boscobel Chief of Police in 1981. Jerry had also been active in the Boscobel Fire Department and served for 42 years from 1971 to 2013, and was also on the rescue squad.  He was a dedicated public servant who took great pride in his job, and he deeply cared for his community.

While Jerry had a deep presence in the community, he made tremendous relationships with many people throughout his life. He treasured the fun times going to the boat, vacationing with friends, many Badger games, and visiting Las Vegas. Jerry looked forward to getting together with friends and family and spending quality time together. He and Barbara had countless memories together that he held dearly. Jerry will be remembered as a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend.

We all know, when Jerry got to heaven, his first words were “What do you think, Barbara?!”

He is survived by his brother James (Kay) Staskal, sister Gloria Boersma, sister-in-law Deirdre Kazda, brother-in-law David (Kim) Kazda; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Staskal, sister Donna Sanders, brother-in-law Lyle Sanders, brother-in-law Clair Corpian, his parents, and his mother and father-in-law.

The memorial service for Jerry will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel with Rev. Lance Wetter officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 am to Noon. Jerry will be laid to rest in the Boscobel Cemetery.
