Jerry Wagner Obituary

Jerry E Wagner, age 76 of Boscobel, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 11, 1947, in Boscobel. He is the son of Irven and Dorothy (Williams) Wagner. He married Nancy Ritchie on October 24, 1971, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel.

Jerry graduated from Boscobel High School in 1965. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served our country in the Vietnam War. Following his years in the service, he worked many years in housing construction for Wick Homes; subsequently, he worked for Boscobel Memorial Hospital until his retirement.

Jerry was an active member of the Boscobel community in various ways. During a portion of his working career, he was a member of the Boscobel and Rural Fire Department, and after his retirement, he stayed active in the community by serving on the Boscobel Utility Board.

Jerry spent the majority of his time making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren. Many of his best memories were made on the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. Jerry was an avid fisherman and boater who found every excuse that he could to get on the water. Furthermore, Jerry was a sports enthusiast throughout his life, and he had a special place in his heart for the Wisconsin Badgers and the Boscobel Bulldogs. Most of his favorite times were spent watching his grandchildren compete in sports.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Nancy Wagner of Boscobel; his children: Shane Wagner of Waunakee and Shannon Carlin of Boscobel (Thom Beck); four grandchildren: Shaeden Carlin (Noah Goetzke), Brennan Carlin (Nicole Cox), Skyler Carlin, and Easton Carlin; great-grandson: Bishop Goetzke; brother: Jim Wagner of Boscobel;  sister: Tonya Wagner of Madison, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister–JoAnn Wagner, and a brother–Todd Wagner.
