Jody Pitz Obituary

Jody E. Pitz, age 48, of Boscobel, Wisconsin, formerly of Lake City, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 20, 2025, after a lifelong battle with illness.

Born on September 15, 1976, to Kenneth and Lorelei (Hancock) Pitz, Jody was raised in Lake City, Michigan, where her deep connection to nature and love for life first took root. She later made her home in Wisconsin, where she treasured every moment with her lifelong partner, Tom Pettit of Muscoda, WI.

Jody was a true lover of nature. She had a green thumb just like her father and found joy in tending to her plants and gardens. She delighted in watching sunsets and the rising moon, and cherished the peaceful gifts of the outdoors. She had a special fascination with mushrooms, building a unique collection of mushroom-themed treasures over the years. She also collected rocks—turning each one that caught her eye into a cherished keepsake, a tradition she shared with her Grandpa Hancock.

Her creativity and curiosity extended to many other passions: sewing, completing diamond dots, thrifting, cooking, reading, going for drives, and listening to music. Jody lived for the simple joys in life and found beauty everywhere she went. More than anything, she loved her family, friends, and pets with her whole heart.

Jody's spirit was defined by her love and resilience. When she loved, she gave her all—regardless of the obstacles she faced. Her strength, compassion, and ability to keep smiling through even the hardest times inspired everyone around her. Her laugh was unforgettable, her heart immeasurable.

Jody is survived by her devoted partner, Tom Pettit of Muscoda, WI; her children, Jordan (Emily) Mercer of Watertown, NY and Samantha Mercer of Pueblo, CO; her parents, Kenneth and Lorelei Pitz of Lake City, MI; her siblings, Jessica DeRosha of Manton, MI, and Hope Simpson of Saginaw, MI; nieces Madison Cockeram, Payton Cockeram, Harlee DeRosha, and Sawyer Simpson; and nephew Gunner DeRosha. She is also survived by many other beloved relatives and friends who were incredibly important to her.

A celebration of Jody's life is being planned, and details will be announced as soon as they are available. At this time loved ones are taking time to grieve and process the loss of a great soul her love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
