LaVon (Culver) Strand

LaVon Strand, age 97 of Woodman, passed away at home on Thursday, July 4, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 10, 1926, daughter of the late Fond and Hazel (Steinbach) Culver. LaVon married Otis Strand on June 12, 1948 at the United Methodist Church in Boscobel. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2004. LaVon was a heroic woman, who believed in being good to people, because she saw the best in each and every one of us. She was strong, devoted, honest, and loving. She was someone who touched each life she entered, spreading joy to everyone she met. The love and happiness she shared with others was one of the most unique and admirable qualities were ever seen in another human being. She worked as the Postmaster in Woodman for 35 years.

LaVon is survived by her children Jeffery (Mary) Strand of Scottsburg, IN, Jenifer Strand and husband Ted Glasbrenner of Boscobel, Jordice Strand of Waunakee, and Jessica (Tom Seaver) Strand of Madison. A son in law, Dave Olson of Woodman. eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Karen Culver of Elk Grove Village, IL, sister-in-law Joanne Culver of Woodman, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter Jaye Olson, a sister Bernadine Freymiller, and a brother, Laudel Culver, as well as her parents.

The funeral service for LaVon will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel with Rev. Lance Wetter officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 P.M.. An additional time of visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
