Lucile Gauger Obituary

Lucile I.. Gauger, from Endeavor Wi., formerly of Blue River WI., peacefully passed away at the age of 87 on February 19, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison WI. She was born on October 3, 1936, in Boscobel, WI. Lucile was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who was always generous with her love and kindness. Her six children affectionally called her “Mom.” Lucile’s legacy is carried on by Bobbi Ann (Jim) Goplin. David (Karen) Degenhardt, Gary (Barb) Degenhardt, Bruce Degenhardt, Lori Ann (Steve) Biba, and Frank (Elizabeth) Gauger. Her life was further enriched by the love of her eighteen grandchildren: Jesse (Tracie) Goplin, Janelle Jones, Jo Ellen Goplin, Jennifer (Josh) Kammerude, Jeff (Joni) Degenhardt, Justin (Lyndi) Degenhardt, Waylon Degenhardt, Whitney (Mike) Stitzer, Jonathon Degenhardt, Jamie Degenhardt, Daniel Degenhardt, Denisha Degenhardt, Hilary Martin, Jessica (Josh) Krueger, Jenna (Matt) Biba, Justine (Dwayne) Richards, Johnathan (Morgan) Biba, and Lydia Gauger. The joy of her love continues to spread to her thirty-three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lucile is survived by her sisters, Renata Winch and twin sister Lois Swenor, together they shared an unbreakable bond that extended through the joys and sorrows of their lives. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Degenhardt and her loving second husband Henry Gauger. Her parents Daniel and Hazel Trumm and her siblings Jake, Emma Koresh, Frank, Keith, Clayton, John, and Reita Ann Hackett. Lucile’s early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Boscobel’s little country schools before she attended Boscobel High School Lucile was a nurturing soul with a deep faith in God, and her interests reflected her kind spirit. She found great pleasure tending to her beautiful flowers, canning, and taking care of the deer that wandered into her yard. Her home was a sanctuary not only for her family and friends but also for all living creatures that she cared for with her gentle hands. Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 2, 2024, for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at St. John's  Lutheran Church in Boscobel, WI. A burial service will follow at the Blue River Cemetery. Lucile requested that any memorial tributes be made to the Blue River Fire and Rescue. Her family is grateful for the time they had with her and her memory will be cherished forever. Although Lucile’s journey on earth has ended, her story will continue to unfold in the lives of those she loved so dearly. As Lucile always said, “God has a plan.”
