Mary A. (Ward) Ritchie

Mary A. Ritchie, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed
away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the age of 79.  She was
born November 15, 1941 in Marietta Twp., Crawford County,
Wisconsin.  The daughter of Keith and Dorothy (Miller) Ward,
she was raised a farm girl, and in her teens was active in the
local Farmers Union youth program. It was also during this time
that she met her future husband, LaVon “Dutch” Ritchie. The
inseparable duo were married on May 26, 1962 in Boscobel,
Wisconsin, and lived together in their Fitchburg house until her
death.
Mary worked as a legal secretary for a number of years, both in
Boscobel and Madison. After dedicating many years to raising
her three children, she then worked for the State of Wisconsin
until retirement. An avid hobbyist, she kept herself perpetually
busy with flower gardening, baking, canning, cake decorating,
crafting, and curating an annual newsletter in which she
chronicled the news of the extended Ritchie family. She also
loved to decorate her home for holidays and the changing
seasons.
Mary is survived by her husband LaVon Ritchie of Fitchburg;
sons Al Ritchie of Fitchburg, and Andrew (Jill) Ritchie of Cross
Plains; daughter Amy (Scott) Pierquet of Lodi; grandchildren
Dylan, Ashlyn and Katryna Ritchie, Kayla and Dakota Pierquet;
and brother Ben (Linda) Ward of Prairie du Sac. She was
preceded in death by her parents, a brother Kerry Ward, and a
sister Janet Ward.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Private Funeral Services will be
held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Kendall Funeral
Home in Boscobel, followed by burial in the Haney Ridge
Cemetery. Those wishing to send cards or memorials can do so
