Obituary

Heaven must have needed a teacher. Mary Lynn (Harwood) Trumm, age 56 of Boscobel, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a short battle with a rare immune deficiency on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Gundersen Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. She was born March 5, 1965, in Boscobel, WI, the sixth of six children, and only daughter, born to Theron Clyde and Lillian Agnes (Ward) Harwood. She graduated from Boscobel High School in 1983 and was a proud Bulldog her entire life. On the hot, summer day of August 20, 1988, she married Keith A. “Punk” Trumm. Mary’s greatest joy in life was being a mom. She first became a mother to Eric after getting married and then gave birth to Cody on November 29, 1994. Mary attended college at UW-Richland and then transferred to UW-Platteville as she wanted to become a teacher. After receiving her degree, she began her life-long teaching career at Boscobel Area Schools in 1995 as a permanent substitute. Over the years she taught Title 1, 1st, and 2nd grade, and spent the last 9 years teaching 6th grade – all in the Boscobel School District. Mary continued to show her Bulldog Pride through coaching wrestling cheerleading for numerous years. When not teaching, Mary could be found cheering on her Bulldogs at sporting events, camping in Muscoda or at Jody’s Land as well as going on wagon rides with her family. Mary also enjoyed passing the time by driving “the loop” around town, playing cards, and doing word searches; however, spending time with the people she loved the most – her husband, sons, and granddaughters – was her favorite.

Mary is survived by her husband of 33 years, Keith “Punk” Trumm of Boscobel; sons, Eric (Melissa) Trumm of Oregon, WI, and Cody (Lexa) Trumm of Boscobel; 3 granddaughters, Raya and Ivy Trumm and Taelyn Michelle Trumm; 4 brothers, Jim Harwood, Tennessee, Larry (Carolyn) Harwood, Iowa, John (Vicky) Harwood, Arbor Vitae, WI, and Kenny (Marsha) Harwood, Boscobel; a special friend, Barb Puckett, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and colleagues of the Boscobel School District. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron Clyde and Lillian Agnes (Ward) Harwood; a brother Dennis C. Harwood; a sister-in-law Judy Harwood; her father and mother-in-laws Keith Sr. and Mary Trumm and Gerald and SuZanne Gebhard; and family dog, Brownie. Funeral Services will be held at Boscobel United Methodist Church in Boscobel, WI at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, with Pastor Stan Pegram Officiating. Burial will be in the Boscobel Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, January 14, and at 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family requests that everyone wears Boscobel Bulldog attire in honor of Mary. The Kendall Funeral Home is assisting the family.
