Nancy L. Adams, 85, died on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Divine Rehab and Nursing in Fennimore after
a brief illness. She was born on July 1, 1934, in Boscobel, the daughter of Julius and Helen (Roth)
Glasbrenner. Nancy graduated from Boscobel High School in 1952. She married Theron R. Adams, on
December 22, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel.
Nancy grew up on a farm in Marietta Township on Maple Ridge and spent the remainder of her life
starting in 1959 on a farm two miles south of there on Shockley Hill. Besides the full time job of raising
four sons, Nancy worked as a clerk at Schultz Bros. Store. After the store closed, Nancy managed cards
at Dick’s Supermarket in Boscobel and Pierece’s in Muscoda. Nancy was a member of St. John’s
Lutheran Church and active in the church’s quilting guild, choir and ladies’ circle. She was a garden and
flower enthusiast. Nancy was passionate about birds, maintaining a year-round feeding station and
charted the arrival of birds and variety of species. Regardless of her responsibilities, everything took a
back seat to fishing. Nancy’s love of fishing started as a girl when her parent’s took time from farm
obligations for fishing outings on the Mississippi and lasted throughout her life. Her last fishing trip was
in 2018 to one of the family’s favorite resorts in Trade Lake, WI.
Nancy is survived by her four sons, Ed (Louise) Adams, Tom (Deanna) Adams, Terry (Helen Mar) Adams
and Jamie (Sheila) Adams; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, Stuart (Donna)
Glasbrenner, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was excited about the arrival of a fifth great grandchild
due next month. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Due to the coronavirus restrictions, the family will be conducting a private, graveside service on Friday,
March 20, 2020. Plans are being made for a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church choir and St. Croix Hospice.
