Nancy Bartram Obituary

Belleville – Nancy L Bartram, of Belleville, WI age 79, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.  Her beloved husband Byron was at her side.

Nancy was born deaf on August 12, 1943 to Carroll and Alma Mallat in Madison, Wisconsin at St. Mary's Hospital. Nancy was baptized and married her first husband at St John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel, Wisconsin, the same lifelong church her parents attended. On April 20, 1985, she married the love of her life, Byron Bartram, who was with her until God called her home.

She loved her childhood living on a dairy farm and playing outside with all the animals.  She attended Lapham Elementary school in Madison and the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, WI where she completed high school. Nancy lived all of her adult life in Madison, WI.  She worked until retirement for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a loyal data entry clerk.  She was a long-time member of Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church in Madison.  She was also a longtime member of the Madison Association of the Deaf.

Nancy loved family gatherings. She loved spending time with her ladies breakfast group and the ASL Red Hatters.  She adored cardinals and obsessively collected them.  She enjoyed spending time with her many friends in the Madison area, loved going on cruises and camping in the family fifth wheel camper.

She is survived by her husband Byron of Belleville, sons Roger Porter (Vicki) of Lake Mills, Kenneth Porter (Josie) of Belleville, and Gary Porter (Misty Collins) of Middleton; grandchildren Sam, Emma, Sophia, Olivia, and Collin; sisters Sharon (Bruce) Oman of Petaluma, California and Sally (William) Howard of West Columbia, Texas. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Carroll and Alma (Zeeh) Mallat and infant brother Steven Mallat.
