Norman R. Hayhurst, age 89 of Boscobel, passed away on Saturday August 8, 2020 at the William S. Middleton Veteran's Hospital in Madison. He was born on April 23, 1931 in Kankakee Illinois. The son of Sheldon and Lillian (Barsalow) Hayhurst. He married Joyce Pray on August 20, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley Ill. She preceded him in death on August 6, 2012. Norman was a Navy Veteran of Korea. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion Posts. He worked at Kroehler Furniture Company in Bradley Illinois for 25 years. He had a love of dairy farming which he pursued full time and moved to Wauzeka Wisconsin with his family after Kroehler closed. He worked for the Boscobel School District and Saint Mary's Catholic Church as a Custodian. Norman "Norm" to his friends had a big personality and never met a stranger. He had the gift of gab and BS. He loved long conversations, a good cold beer, and fishing stories with family and friends! He loved to fish, garden and travel with his wife Joyce. Norman is survived by his children, Gary Hayhurst of Dubuque Ia., Bruce Hayhurst of Cassville, Marsha Jones of Wauzeka, Cheryl (Timothy) Leatherby of Machesney Pk Ill., Carolyn Hayhurst of Lexington S.C., Sharon (William) Ackerman of Glen Haven. 6 Grandchildren 3 Great-Grandchildren. Special thanks to wonderful neighbors and friends! Rachel Peak, Elmer Ritter, Ottmer Boebel Jr., Ron (Sonny) Kalish , Kim Kalish. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wesley Hayhurst, a grandson Nathan Leatherby, and a son in law David Jones.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Private Funeral services will be held on Friday August 14, 2020 at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery.
Public Graveside services will be held on Friday August 14, 2020 at 11:45 A.M. at the Boscobel Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Gilbertson-Pitzer-Radley Post #10393 VFW of Boscobel and the Seeley-Onstine Post #458 American Legion Post of Wauzeka. In lieu of flowers memorials can given to the family, and they will distribute to Norman's favorite charity.
