Pauline Stockton Obituary

Pauline L. Stockton passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was proud to be 101 years old! Pauline was born and raised in the Vernon, Richland County area. She worked with her husband Richard on their family farm. It was there that three children were born. Pauline and Richard moved to the McFarland, WI area where they had the remainder of their children. Pauline worked at various jobs while there, including the University of Wisconsin in the Primate Center while they were developing the PKU. She enjoyed feeding and caring for the baby monkeys. She also enjoyed taking us kids in to see the monkeys. Pauline also worked managing the Fanny May candy store on State St in downtown Madison, this must be where we got our love of sweet treats.

After marrying Dale, the two moved to Boscobel, WI where they owned and operated the Town and Country Drive-in / restaurant. They certainly enjoyed hiring so many high school students, today those people will tell you this is where they learned a strong work ethic and had fun along the way. Some of the best food all around in a family friendly environment. Later Dale and Pauline would move to Conch Key, Fla to begin another small business in commercial fishing, trapping lobster. This was a hard and dirty job, but Pauline went out on the boat everyday with Dale and worked alongside him. While living in the Florida Keys, Pauline was an active member of the Women Auxiliary in the American Legion. Pauline also decorated many wedding and birthday cakes for members of the  family and her friends. Pauline baked a cake for her 15-year-old granddaughter and Dale. Pauline and Rick even flew the birthday cake to Michigan for her Birthday!!

There is nothing she couldn't do. Some of her most loved hobbies were sewing. She could make whatever you wanted; she would use multiple patterns to get the desired product. She enjoyed canning everything under the sun and of course fishing and visiting family around the country which they traveled in their multiple motor-homes.

She later married Bill and they lived part time in Florida and part time in Wis., so she could be near her family.

Pauline was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with each of them. She especially loved her role as Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great and even Great-great-great-Grandma. Pauline had a vivacious personality and always enjoyed all the friends and family around her. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandma for generations and will be missed by so many. We will remember her for a lifetime of love and memories. May this gentle soul rest in perfect peace as she will be in a place with all her loved ones who have gone before her. You had the smile of an angel, you were loved by all who entered your heart, you gave your all to so many. We love you Mom.

Pauline is survived by her children Deanna (Carlton) Quamme of Alberton, MT, Richard (Mary Jo) Snorek of Stoughton, Colleen (Ray) Hazard of Fitchburg, Rhonda (Rick) Meland of Kenosha, and Kim (Jim) Trumm of Boscobel; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-granddaughter, along with numerous step-children. She was preceded in death by her daughter Judy Reda, son Rick Reda, grandson Jimmy Snorek, along with her spouses and parents.
