Reed Brown, age 83 of Boscobel, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. He was born on July 27, 1942, son of the late Robert and Ella (Gueller) Brown. Reed married Karen Kopling on June 3, 1967 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, and they were blessed with 55 years together. Reed worked at the Boscobel High School as an art teacher for over 38 years before retiring.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Reed also enjoyed golfing and boating, and he took tremendous pride in working in his garden. As an artist, he enjoyed working with his hands, painting with watercolors, pottery, and woodworking. In his younger years, Reed stayed active playing collegiate tennis at UW-Marathon. Reed continued to stay active refereeing high school games for many years. He was known to be a master of jokes and had a great sense of humor. Reed was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel, worked for the Housing Authority in Boscobel, and was a DAV Driver. Reed will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (Jeff) Terp of Wind Lake, WI, Brent (Tina) Brown of Boscobel, and Brittani (Brad) Phelps of Waunakee; grandchildren Elizabeth (Mitchell) Chevremont, Claire (fiancé Ian Petoskey) Terp, Samantha Brown, Alison Brown, Griffin Phelps, Mallory Phelps and Colton Lessard; a sister, several nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Brown, sister Arlis Winslow, and his parents.
A memorial service for Reed will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
