Obituary

Regina Hennessy, 97, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 surrounded by her family at the Riverdale Health Care Center. She was one of 10 children born to Henry and Mary Stadele on November 25, 1924 in rural Muscoda. She graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic High School. After high school she worked for Walsh Stores in Muscoda. On October 30, 1950 she was united in marriage to Richard (Frank) Hennessy. Frank and Regina farmed for many years in rural Excelsior. Together they raised seven children. Upon retirement they moved to Boscobel. Frank preceded her in death in September, 2004. Regina was very unselfish and always put the needs of others before her own. She worked tirelessly along with Frank on the farm and maintained a warm and loving household for her family. Regina also worked several years serving meals at the Excelsior Elementary School. She made sure no one was ever left hungry – always providing wonderful meals and baked goods. Regina’s strong faith was always central in her life. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Foresters. Regina is survived by her seven children – Sharon (Steve) Mergen of Dorchester, John (Marlys) Hennessy of Boscobel, Carol Stenklyft of Sheboygan, Janet (Rick) Anderson of DeForest, Mary Jo of Platteville, Jean & Kate of Boscobel. Also, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Rosemary Gassen, of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and five brothers – Bernard, Clem, Donald, Tony and Francis and three sisters – Agnes Kinyon, Kathryn Herold, and Dorothy Lester. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Riverdale Manor for the care they provided Regina during the last few weeks of her life. Regina was blessed to remain in her home through her 97th birthday with the support of Kate and Jean and regular visits from family.
