Shelby Thingvold Obituary

Shelby Jean (Zajicek) Thingvold, age 87, sadly passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Bethel Oaks Memory Care in Viroqua. She was born on May 20, 1937 in Crawford County, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Briggs) Zajicek. She was married to Erwin “Erv” Thingvold on February 21, 1959. They farmed for many years in Five Points then moved to Boscobel. She worked at Advance Transformer until her retirement. Shelby enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made special birthday cakes for her grandchildren's birthdays. Shelby will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother by her family.

Shelby is survived by three daughters, Jean (Mike) McDaniel, Jane Hackett, and Susan (David) Gardner all of Boscobel; three grandchildren, Jeremy McDaniel, Malena (Jacob) Knowles of Boscobel, and Garrett (Janyl) Gardner of Cottage Grove; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn McDaniel, Piper, Autumn, and Chloe Knowles, and Gus Gardner; sisters Cre Peaslee of Minnesoda  and Shirley Kurowski,of Bonduel ,  a brother Mason (Carol) Zajicek, sisters-in-law Betty Zajicek and Marsha Devine, along with many other close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erv on September 20, 2014, her father and mother in-law, a brother Harley Zajicek, a sister Blanche “Bea” Randall, brothers-in-law Harry Kurowski, William “Bill” Randall, Gordie Peaslee, and Dennis Devine.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 208 Mary Street, Boscobel, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Peters will be officiating with burial in the Boscobel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethel Oaks Memory Care in Viroqua or St. John's Lutheran Church in Boscobel. The Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.
