Wilma M. Rounds 95, of Boscobel WI passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
The 3rd child born to Fred and Dorothy Sander on April 10, 1929 on the home farm in rural Wauzeka, WI. Wilma was united in marriage to Carl E. Rounds on November 27, 1948 in Boscobel, WI. Carl preceded her in death in 2015.
Wilma was the Sander family barber. She gave hair cuts and perms to many family and friends, including her own children. Wilma was also an amazing seamstress, she made wedding dresses, bridal attendant dresses, quilts (all new babies in the family received a quilt as a baby gift), she even made a madrigal dress for one of her granddaughters. A lot of her children’s clothing was made by her hands. Wilma was an artist with a sewing machine.
When Wilma married her best friend, Carl they moved to the Rounds family farm in rural Boscobel and made their home. They built a new house on the farm to raise their family. Wilma was very active in the farming operation, from milking cows to field work, she and Carl worked side by side. Wilma also raised a huge garden and canned as much as she could store from that (including her famous pickles!).
Carl and Wilma also did beautiful woodwork, they made dressers, lamps, cedar chests, and anything else they could dream up. Family and friends were also the recipients of many beautiful pieces of furniture made by their hard-working hands.
Wilma is survived by children, Bernice (David) Dombeck, Bernard (Patricha) Rounds, Marlene Cornwell, Carol Swenson, and John (Lisa) Rounds. She is further survived by siblings, Lena Tainter, Irene Cudney, Alma Schleicher, John Sander, Mary (Francis) Walters, James Sander, Emily (James) Jeglum, along with sisters-in-law Theresa Sander and Phyllis Sander. Wilma also left behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Carl Rounds, daughter Diane Rounds, great-grandson Levi Rounds, son-in-law Robert Cornwell, and siblings Margaret Brandes, William Sander, Richard Sander, and Donald Sander and many brother and sister in laws.
The family would like to thank everyone who assisted with Mom’s (grandma’s) care.
The funeral service for Wilma will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel with Rev. Lance Wetter officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. An additional time of visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Wilma will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl at the Boscobel Cemetery.
